Rod Latham

From MTC:

February 1941 - June 1996

"On June 10, 1996, Rod was taken from us very suddenly. His death was not only a great loss for his family, but also for his friends and fellow MTC team members.

"Having served honorably and with distinction in the United States Air Force for 30 years, Rod retired in 1992 and joined the MTC family. Because of his extensive experience managing critical, worldwide command control communication and computer systems, Rod's first assignment was to establish an MTC office in Colorado Springs to support the U.S. and Air Force Space Commands. The new office flourished as a result of his resourcefulness and professionalism.

"Because Rod's two sons, Rodney and Aaron, and their families lived in Omaha, Nebraska, Rod and his wife, Ida, decided to return to Omaha in 1993 and open a new MTC office. Seeing a need for acquisition management and system engineering support at U.S. Strategic Command, he convinced the military leadership that MTC possessed the skills to provide the support required. Starting with three individuals, he created a professional team that now numbers 17 and is still growing.

"Rod was committed to serving his community. He was actively involved in several local organizations and was recently selected to be the next president of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA). For his many contributions, the AFCEA board has named its annual scholarship at Bellevue University in his honor.

"A devoted husband and father. Rod always remembered the importance of his family. In his quiet and gentle manner, he ensured his Family had a loving and caring home. With Ida, he instilled in his sons the values, sense of responsibility, and patriotism that remains his legacy to them.

"Rod is a jewel who has returned to the Father. He is at peace and playing a heavenly round of golf. He will never be really gone as he continues to live in the heart and soul of his family and in the memories of his many friends. He will be missed. May he rest in peace."
