1) Am I limited in where I can
use my Greater Omaha Chapter scholarship?
Greater Omaha Chapter scholarships are intended for students who
are enrolled in academic institutions that fall within the Eastern Nebraska/Western
Iowa region. However, if a scholarship recipient were to transfer schools out
of our region, those funds would transfer with that student.
2) I don't qualify for Federal
Aid. Am I still eligible to apply for a Greater Omaha Chapter Scholarship?
Absolutely! While all applicants are encouraged to apply for Federal Assistance,
the Greater Omaha Chapter uses a different definition of need. Many people who
don't qualify for Federal Aid may qualify for a Greater Omaha Chapter scholarship.
3) Do I need to choose which
scholarships I apply for?
No, only one online application is necessary. Using the information that you
provide, you will be matched with and considered for each scholarship you are
eligible for.
4) Can I submit my application on paper instead
of online?
If you are applying for a Greater Omaha Chapter Scholarship, you must apply
online. If you have extenuating circumstances and require assistance in
completing the application, please contact the VP of Academic Affairs at 402-312-6295
or crews.nancy@gmail.com.
5) I understand the Greater Omaha Chapter requires
two separate recommendations from either an instructor, student advisor, or
academic mentor. Do the recommendations need to be submitted online like the
application?
Yes, the reference recommendation form is clearly listed along with the application
form on the scholarships page. Simply direct your reference to the appropriate
area of the website so they can accomplish the form on your behalf.
6) It's after your published
deadline, can I still apply for a scholarship?
Unfortunately no. Applicants who do not pre-coordinate any anticipated delays
with the VP of Academic Affairs will not be considered for our scholarships.
Our timeline is established in advance to ensure the Education Committee can
thoroughly evaluate all applicants, hence late entries are regrettably denied.
7) I received a Greater Omaha
Chapter Scholarship less than a year ago, can I apply?
Applicants must not have received a Greater Omaha Chapter Scholarship within
the same academic year of their last submission in order to compete for one
of our scholarship offerings.
8) Who chooses the scholarship
recipients?
An Education Committee, typically consisting of Board Members from the Greater
Omaha Chapter, will review applications and convene to select scholarship recipients.
9) How will I know if I've received
a scholarship?
The VP of Academic Affairs typically notifies each scholarship recipient personally
of their selection for our scholarship.
10) If I agree to receive a
Greater Omaha Chapter scholarship am I under some type of obligation?
Recipients of our scholarships are typically invited to a general membership
luncheon (as our guests) where recipients are formally recognized for their
selection and accomplishment. No other stipulations apply, however, we do encourage
you to stay in school and maximize on the benefit of our scholarship stipend.
11) Is there an age limitation on who can compete for a Greater Omaha Chapter scholarship?
Absolutely not -- there is no age limitation. Our scholarships are open to any eligible student.
